FOUNDATION COURSE

We see many young people at our auditions who have talent and ability but who may not have had the opportunity for early training in preparing for the rigours of a full time course similar to MPA. We determined that a foundation course would provide the same expert teachers and the same technical demands as our main tuition, adjusted to suit the needs of these young individuals. Other factors may play a part in why these young people are not yet able to commit to full time training and at MPA there are three options to allow as much scope for choice as possible.

Option 1 – student chooses to only complete semester one:

Audition Preparation - September – February

Our one and a half term Intensive Course is designed to provide students with the skills and techniques that should enable them to meet the requirements and demands placed on the versatile performer for entry into Three Year Professional training courses in Musical Theatre or Dance. The curriculum is extensive and comprehensive; disciplines covered are ballet, contemporary, technical and commercial jazz, tap, singing, acting, along with lectures covering audition preparation and health and safety for the performer.

Option 2 – student chooses to complete semester one and continues to semester two for:

The Trinity College London Graded Examinations Level 3 in Musical Theatre or Speech & Drama –

September – February and February - July

For students wishing to gain a recognised qualification we offer the Grade 8 examinations in either Musical Theatre or Speech and Drama. These exams equate to Level 3 on the NQF. Students will work on taking the examination towards the end of the course. Alongside this, they will also receive extensive technical training in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Singing and Acting.

Option 3 – student chooses to complete semester one and continue to semester two with their normal class timetable.

September – February and February - July

All Foundation students have the opportunity to perform a rehearsed showing of their work at the end of the academic year. All parents, guardians and family and friends can be invited to these showings.
