Gil Cohen-Alloro

 

GIL COHEN-ALLORO was born in Jerusalem and started his acting career in Peter Pan in Habima Theatre in Tel Aviv. Moving to France he trained on a full scholarship at the Rosella Hightower dance school in Cannes, and in 1993 won a full scholarship

to the London Studio Centre where he trained under Jacki Mitchell. He was awarded ‘Best Drama Piece’ and ‘Best Choreography’ in their Best of Assessments show, the latter appearing on Carlton TV’s Pot of Gold. His West End debut was as George Gershwin in Jolson at The Victoria Palace, where he later appeared in Sweet Charity. Other credits include The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and A Winter’s Tale for the RSC, Rasputin with the Natural Theatre Company, a UK tour of Oklahoma! in which he was a principal dancer, an adaptation

of The Barber of Seville at the Bristol Old Vic, Dying For It at the Almeida Theatre, Ernst Ludwig in Cabaret at the English Theatre Frankfurt, returning there to play in The Last Virgin. Gil has also appeared in a range of films and commercials worldwide, including the film 1408 opposite Samuel Jackson, Maddona’s W.E., World War Z, and Kill Your Friends which is due out next year. He has directed and staged various shows including A Gala Performance at the Lyceum Theatre and he is an experienced dancer, choreographer, mime artist and musician.
